I like to build and mold things, I like colors and patterns. Most of my sculptures are mixed media images witn plaster, sculptamold, wood, acrylic paint and paper as the main ingredients. Often I start building the shapes using pieces or styrofoam as” bricks” and sculptamold as “mortar”. The BLACK BIRD series was inspired by a Finnish song that my mother used to sing. She had a lovely voice and we often used to sing together with my sister. In some of the sculptures I have used birch bark and in others I have painted the surface to look like birch bark. In many of the earlier sculptures I used silk screened paper as part of the top layer.
